Topic: Comparing
Grade 4, Learning Support
Subject: Math
Materials: computer, projector
Objective: The students will compare two numbers.
Procedures: 1.) Start the lesson by talking about alligators and how they like like to eat a lot. Tell them that we'll be using alligators to find out which number the alligator would like to eat. The alligator would want to eat the bigger number since they like to eat a lot. 2.) State the objective. 3.) Using the projector, display an activity from the website internet4classrooms. http://www.beaconlearningcenter.com/WebLessons/AlligatorLunch/default.htm#page1
The activity starts off with talking about allie the alligator. Allie always eats the bigger fish. It also goes into using the words greater than and less than. We would do the examples together on the projector. 4.) When we finish, I would have the students complete a worksheet on comparing numbers. I would have them draw alligator mouths. Underneath each mouth, they would need to write greater than or less than.
Assessment: Worksheet on comparing. 2 points each (1-correct sign, 1-correct words)
