Subject: Language Arts
Materials: computer, projector, overhead projector
Objective: The students will identify verbs.
Procedures: 1.) Gain attention by telling the students they're going to learn about verbs by watching a school house rock video. 2.) State the objective. 3.) Show students the video "School House Rock Verbs" on teacher tube. http://www.teachertube.com/view_video.php?viewkey=da92bd4e1f870eaaa6ad&page=1&viewtype=&category= 4.) After viewing the video, tell the students that they will watch it again and they will be writing down as many examples as they can of verbs. 5.) Watch the video again and have students write down verbs from the video. 6.) When finished, have students share the verbs they learned about and write them down on the overhead projector. 7.) Discuss the importance of verbs in sentences. 8.) Have the students write five sentences using the verbs they learned about in the video and underline the verb. 9.) To wrap up the lesson take pictures of the students displaying various verbs (ex. smile, read, write, jump). Display the pictures on a bulletin board. 10.) Have each student write one sentence using the verb they did in the their picture and post under the picture.
Assessment: Student's work- sentences , 3 points per sentence (1-capital, 1-punctuation, 1-verb correctly used)
